RacooNation First Update

The first RacooNation devlog introduces the core incremental gameplay loop, early abilities, and the project's origin at Global Game Jam 2026 in Barcelona.

RacooNation first devlog covering core loop and Global Game Jam 2026 development

Project Introduction

RacooNation is an incremental idle clicker where players start with small trash collection actions, then scale into a full raccoon-run resource empire.

The main loop is straightforward by design: place trash piles, recruit raccoons, optimize collection, sell resources, and reinvest into stronger systems.

Current Core Gameplay Loop

In the current build, progression starts with manual setup and quickly shifts into automation-driven growth. Trash becomes currency for upgrades and expansion.

At later stages, players unlock the Racoonizer, which converts humans into raccoons using accumulated trash resources. Conversion milestones unlock additional systems and ability progression.

Early Abilities

This build includes two foundational abilities used to validate the direction of the broader ability tree:

  • Area Click
  • Low Click

Built During Global Game Jam 2026

RacooNation was created during Global Game Jam 2026 (January 27 to February 1, 2026).

At the Barcelona UPC site, development happened over a weekend-only schedule from Friday, January 30, 2026 to Sunday, February 1, 2026. The project was made by two developers as their first game jam.

Studio Context and Next Goals

The game is part of Arcneo Games' early studio journey. The downloadable version contains the core loop, but it remains intentionally limited compared to the full vision.

Planned updates include a complete ability system, game-length rebalance, and build variety so players can experiment with different progression paths and optimization strategies.
